Since then I have been hanging out with Ms. Fiona Banjer's class down under. Recently I went with Mrs. Banjer to Sydney where she was presenting at a conference. What an adventure! I miss Chets Creek but this trip is a chance of lifetime! Take a look at some of my pictures!<br /><p style="visibility:visible;"><object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://widget-62.slide.com/widgets/slideticker.swf" height="320" width="426" style="width:426px;height:320px"><param name="movie" value="http://widget-62.slide.com/widgets/slideticker.swf" /><param name="quality" value="high" /><param name="scale" value="noscale" /><param name="salign" value="l" /><param name="wmode" value="transparent"/> <param name="flashvars" value="cy=ms&il=1&channel=2810246167505760866&site=widget-62.slide.com"/></object><p style="white-space:nowrap"><a href="http://www.slide.com/pivot?cy=ms&at=un&id=2810246167505760866&map=1" target="_blank"><img src="http://widget-62.slide.com/p1/2810246167505760866/ms_t062_v000_s0un_f00/images/xslide1.gif" border="0" ismap="ismap" /></a> <a href="http://www.slide.com/pivot?cy=ms&at=un&id=2810246167505760866&map=2" target="_blank"><img src="http://widget-62.slide.com/p2/2810246167505760866/ms_t062_v000_s0un_f00/images/xslide2.gif" border="0" ismap="ismap" /></a> <a href="http://www.slide.com/pivot?cy=ms&at=un&id=2810246167505760866&map=F" target="_blank"><img src="http://widget-62.slide.com/p4/2810246167505760866/ms_t062_v000_s0un_f00/images/xslide42.gif" border="0" ismap="ismap" /></a></p></p>dayle timmonshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08313072094826276617noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4675441922396644703.post-38644295132211634882009-06-11T09:35:00.003-04:002009-06-22T10:21:18.948-04:00MexicoApril 7<br />Yawn. Good morning, this is Chelsey at 4:30 am! I cannot believe P. woke me up this early but I am excited because we are flying to Mexico today. Yeah! <br /><br />We flew from Jacksonville to Houston, Texas and then to Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco Mexico! We drove from the airport to Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco to Punta Mita, Nayarit where we stayed at Aunt L. and Uncle J.'s house. We were welcomed by the family with strawberry smoothies and went straight to the pool. After dinner we watched the movie Bedtime Stories but I still wasn't tired.<br /><br />April 8<br />This morning we slept in (anything past 4:30 is great)! After breakfast we took a trip into Punta Mita to go on a boat excursion. The boats took us on a trip to, what we will call, the "Bird Islands". These islands, which were mainly rock, were full of caves and paths to explore once you swam over to the land. I understand the water in the Pacific Ocean is very cool! That is what P. told me because I chose not to swim. It was a great adventure.<br /><br />When we returned from the boat, we took a rest while we waited for dinner. We had no idea there was a Piñata Party planned until after dinner was served. The piñata was filled with assorted Mexican and American candies. After the piñata was destroyed we had chocolate cake and played hide and seek. We had so much fun. <br /><br />April 9<br />Today we spent the day at the beach a short ride from the house. We had lunch and hung out! The highlight of the beach trip was the discovery of the hermit crabs in all sizes. That was amazing!<br /><br />April 10<br />We ventured out to Sayulita, a beach town just a short distance from Punta Mita. The streets and beach were packed because of Easter weekend. In Mexico, people camp on the beach and everywhere else as far as I could tell in celebration of the holiday. We shopped in the market and watched while some of the locals worked on crafts. It was very interesting. <br /><br />April 11<br />Today was a short day in Mexico. P. and I went to the pool after breakfast and visited her cousins. I had time to reflect and rest on the plane trip back from Puerto Vallarta, through Houston and finally back to Jacksonville. What a lovely trip.<br /><div><embed src="http://widget-12.slide.com/widgets/slideticker.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" quality="high" scale="noscale" salign="l" wmode="transparent" flashvars="cy=bb&il=1&channel=3386706919804324114&site=widget-12.slide.com" style="width:400px;height:320px" name="flashticker" align="middle"></embed><div style="width:400px;text-align:left;"><a href="http://www.slide.com/pivot?cy=bb&at=un&id=3386706919804324114&map=1" target="_blank"><img src="http://widget-12.slide.com/p1/3386706919804324114/bb_t000_v000_s0un_f00/images/xslide1.gif" border="0" ismap="ismap" /></a> <a href="http://www.slide.com/pivot?cy=bb&at=un&id=3386706919804324114&map=2" target="_blank"><img src="http://widget-12.slide.com/p2/3386706919804324114/bb_t000_v000_s0un_f00/images/xslide2.gif" border="0" ismap="ismap" /></a> <a href="http://www.slide.com/pivot?cy=bb&at=un&id=3386706919804324114&map=F" target="_blank"><img src="http://widget-12.slide.com/p4/3386706919804324114/bb_t000_v000_s0un_f00/images/xslide42.gif" border="0" ismap="ismap" /></a></div></div>Debbie Harbourhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01628840289191959949noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4675441922396644703.post-2869556648373947752009-04-20T17:02:00.004-04:002009-04-20T22:34:07.671-04:00Washington ,D.C.Over Spring Break I was lucky to go with Z. to Washington, D.C. We spent 13 hours in the car. We drove through many states. The first thing we did when we got there was to go the National Air and Space Museum. We saw lots of airplanes and fighter jets. Then we left and went to the White House and Washington Monument. The next day we went to the Museum of American History. We didn't like that one as much. Then we went to the Natural History Museum. We saw dinosaur bones and fossils. It was so big we are going back another day. On Monday we went to George Washington's house. We saw his grave. Then we went to Arlington National Cementary and saw the eternal flame. That night we saw Abraham Lincoln's Memorial. We got to stand where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. gave his speech "I Have a Dream". Tuesday we to Thomas Jefferson's house. Wednesday we went to the archives. We saw the real Declaration of Independence. Then we finished the other museums from earlier in the week. Thursday we went to Thomas Jefferson's Memorial, the World War II Memorial, the Library of Congress, and finally the wax museum. How awesome! It was our last day of the trip. Finally it was time to drive back to Florida! I had a great time with Z. <br /><br /><div><embed src="http://widget-40.slide.com/widgets/slideticker.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" quality="high" scale="noscale" salign="l" wmode="transparent" flashvars="cy=bb&il=1&channel=3386706919798363712&site=widget-40.slide.com" style="width:400px;height:320px" name="flashticker" align="middle"></embed><div style="width:400px;text-align:left;"><a href="http://www.slide.com/pivot?cy=bb&at=un&id=3386706919798363712&map=1" target="_blank"><img src="http://widget-40.slide.com/p1/3386706919798363712/bb_t000_v000_s0un_f00/images/xslide1.gif" border="0" ismap="ismap" /></a> <a href="http://www.slide.com/pivot?cy=bb&at=un&id=3386706919798363712&map=2" target="_blank"><img src="http://widget-40.slide.com/p2/3386706919798363712/bb_t000_v000_s0un_f00/images/xslide2.gif" border="0" ismap="ismap" /></a> <a href="http://www.slide.com/pivot?cy=bb&at=un&id=3386706919798363712&map=F" target="_blank"><img src="http://widget-40.slide.com/p4/3386706919798363712/bb_t000_v000_s0un_f00/images/xslide42.gif" border="0" ismap="ismap" /></a></div></div>Debbie Harbourhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01628840289191959949noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4675441922396644703.post-23726734334924509772009-03-23T22:03:00.008-04:002009-03-24T21:51:53.745-04:00North Carolina<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqFYQSxA2UTSJRzqxf0aicKolHycIZc4AynrIBdT-r1csSwAir-7oGxj8AyXKD4DUNU7bqlpPBYFz46Um64KR3dGZjyIvZuEFqD6RsGeQQUXogBGybo-21Six56BxKTxjeqXmw36NXDDY/s1600-h/P3010150.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqFYQSxA2UTSJRzqxf0aicKolHycIZc4AynrIBdT-r1csSwAir-7oGxj8AyXKD4DUNU7bqlpPBYFz46Um64KR3dGZjyIvZuEFqD6RsGeQQUXogBGybo-21Six56BxKTxjeqXmw36NXDDY/s200/P3010150.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5316936017793937122" /></a><br /><br />I got to go to North Carolina with C. When she heard she was going she was excited. We packed up a lot of stuff. When we were ready, we went. <br /> <br />We drove a lot. We all saw at least one deer on the way. Her dad got them a new movie and things for our DS. <br /> <br />When we got there, we got lost, but we found the office. We brought their dogs too. We chewed gum a lot. When you get up really high your ears pop. We lived at the very top of the mountain. <br /> <br />When you got in, you were at the top of the stairs and then you go down the stairs really quick because our bedroom is down stairs. We went in there was 2 bunk beds and a couch and a tv and a radio. Our tv didn’t work so we used C.’s Mom’s and Dad’s tv. <br /> <br />There were three bedrooms and 6 beds. C., her mom, sister, Sadie and Curtis and me slept in one bed and her dad had a big bed by himself. C. woke up and woke her mom up too so we watched some television, got dressed. We waited until it was the afternoon and it started to snow. <br /> <br />It was cool. It was my first time seeing snow. We stayed inside for a while and then we went out for dinner. Our dinner was…spaghetti and pizza. We ate so much of the spaghetti that we didn’t eat the pizza. Then we went to the store and we got toys and one candy each and then we went back to the place and we slept. <br /> <br />Then we woke back up and we ate breakfast. We watched some tv and then we went…tubing. C. went the first time with her Dad and then by herself. The last time she went on her sister’s lap. Then we went back to the place, watched some tv and soon it was night. <br /> <br />We packed up and left. We returned the key and they were happy, we were the first ones to return a key. Then we got McDonald’s and left for good.<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-U-BgR95HzE56W7lirVfrDjacim44KXw19zL_l2SyFrgBiKLDlqVgoaUHAfZlJNJAdg5LJmMgDBkNncpKU3MUveKXa7z7eqMTYjt3s9kekRdmioOw-LiUg4KaTklTxqFODB5IbXfrXxU/s1600-h/P3010155.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-U-BgR95HzE56W7lirVfrDjacim44KXw19zL_l2SyFrgBiKLDlqVgoaUHAfZlJNJAdg5LJmMgDBkNncpKU3MUveKXa7z7eqMTYjt3s9kekRdmioOw-LiUg4KaTklTxqFODB5IbXfrXxU/s200/P3010155.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5316936351175449122" /></a><br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyNBYHSU6a2ecuuoKD9uqtNdd89aJDjXyXQgXpKPa2ZAYO2XSiCu_-HBdQEoly5-TaE51v_3O75ehrqih-wjN5TMfiMIwADt7asN4hhdf-NkII2H1Nc5MVzjL6JX3GFigPB-etja47ngg/s1600-h/P3010163.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyNBYHSU6a2ecuuoKD9uqtNdd89aJDjXyXQgXpKPa2ZAYO2XSiCu_-HBdQEoly5-TaE51v_3O75ehrqih-wjN5TMfiMIwADt7asN4hhdf-NkII2H1Nc5MVzjL6JX3GFigPB-etja47ngg/s200/P3010163.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5316935835226240482" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLGrKF51fXzAkJGGckdnEp3D-yL6-IYRlf9qgIP0QzXcSF31xb9UmKwp7y0e_g8J_1eukjYjKKT7Mj-AxT0zDJSG6afsZjSwTAuoK_lMM84EqNHAMVHsLTociqzTnUgM3Fiktsw7gJojY/s1600-h/P3010147.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLGrKF51fXzAkJGGckdnEp3D-yL6-IYRlf9qgIP0QzXcSF31xb9UmKwp7y0e_g8J_1eukjYjKKT7Mj-AxT0zDJSG6afsZjSwTAuoK_lMM84EqNHAMVHsLTociqzTnUgM3Fiktsw7gJojY/s200/P3010147.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5316935651040960754" /></a>Debbie Harbourhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01628840289191959949noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4675441922396644703.post-72703205411119949982009-03-22T14:50:00.003-04:002009-03-23T14:56:05.106-04:00Chet Goes to Aspen, Colorado!<OBJECT class=BLOG_video_class id=BLOG_video-640a1442490ed7d2 height=266 width=320 contentId="640a1442490ed7d2"></OBJECT><br />The first week of March I got to go on vacation with C and his family to Aspen, Colorado! We had a fabulous time! First we had to pack all of our gear, we had A LOT of stuff because we were going to be in the snow. We got to go on two different planes on the way out there...it took a long time to get there. When we got there I was a little confused because they said it would take three hours from Atlanta to Aspen but we left at 6:00pm and when we got there it was 7:00pm? C and his family explained that Aspen is in a different time zone and when it is 9:00pm in Jacksonville it is only 7:00pm in Aspen...you learn something new everyday! When we first got there we had to get some groceries and then check in to our condo. We were so tired from our long day of travels that we ate some dinner and went right to sleep. When we woke up we took the bus down to the ski lodge and got our gear. C decided that he wanted to learn how to snowboard, so he got all geared up and then we went to the "Treehouse" where they teach you how to ski or snowboard. I spent the day with C and his snowboard instructor Ms. Isabelle. C'c parents and his Uncle Philip hit the ski slopes while we hung out at the "Treehouse" learning how to snowboard. C is a natural, he got it right away and was on the slopes in no time. By the third day we were riding up the "skittles"(ski lift) and snowboarding all the way down! C decided we would go to the Sweet Shoppe and get some ice cream...like we weren't cold enough already! It was yummy! While we were at the Sweet Shoppe we met a clown who made us balloons and painted C's face. While we were in Aspen we also got to go sledding. It was actually snowing pretty hard when we were sledding, I was FREEZING!! Another thing that was really fun that I did for the first time was ice skate. We had a greta time in Aspen, but I was ready to come home to warm, sunny Jacksonville!Mrs. Lauren Skipperhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16428964498554102113noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4675441922396644703.post-79215382176764100452009-03-18T07:33:00.002-04:002009-03-18T07:39:17.141-04:00Budapest, HungaryI left on a GREAT adventure to Budapest, Hungary with K. A nice "lad" (boy) named Alan and his friend Kirk said they would show me the sights and sounds of the Ireland's capital city, <a href="http://www.visitdublin.com/">Dublin</a>. I was so excited to see what life is like in another country!<br /><br />One thing that surprised me was the size of the buses in Ireland. Just look at how big this <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double-decker_bus">double-decker bus </a>is compared to Alan and myself! But as big as the bus was, it was nothing compared to what we saw next.<br /><br />Alan and Kirk took me to see the <a href="http://www.irish-architecture.com/buildings_ireland/dublin/northcity/oconnell_street/spire.html">Dublin Spire </a>– and it was amazing! It's 390 feet tall, and it was hard to see the top of it. It's on <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/O">O'Connell Street</a>, which is one of the widest streets in Europe. As we walked along the street, we saw another double-decker bus, but this one was an "open-top bus".<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7aq2awIFUzTGyVn6Aq7aKAhwavj_7hWf9DJd_9_UoPUsoYCGa8K1T88TkcVVgvp7fC6A1ZP_nXGi8rA3fOUaLG7lm4Qs3eAF5csWtjHvTmkk9RSOdg6ethKE1XA7EaYiYV6HMLmApM53y/s1600-h/ireland.gif"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5298029089552999890" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 295px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 267px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7aq2awIFUzTGyVn6Aq7aKAhwavj_7hWf9DJd_9_UoPUsoYCGa8K1T88TkcVVgvp7fC6A1ZP_nXGi8rA3fOUaLG7lm4Qs3eAF5csWtjHvTmkk9RSOdg6ethKE1XA7EaYiYV6HMLmApM53y/s320/ireland.gif" border="0" /></a><br />We also saw the O'Connell Street Christmas Tree, which was all bright and lit up, and some Christmas lights, which sadly weren't. We stopped into a shop, where Kirk introduced me to an Irish leprechaun! I bought a nice Irish pin, too!<br /><br />Then we walked over to Grafton Street, where we were greeted by this statue. It's of a girl called Molly Malone, an old Irish legend who has a song written about her. Alan and Kirk offered to sing it for me, but I've heard them sing before – I knew to say no! (Their singing hurts my ears.)<br /><br />At the end of Grafton Street, we came to the archway into <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Stephen">St Stephen's Green</a>, a huge park, with ponds full of ducks and swans. We took pictures of them, and fed them bits of bread. But soon the pigeons got jealous!<br /><br />It was time to go home, so we hopped on the train back to Alan's house.<br /><br />On the way, we stopped off at Alan and Kirk's college, the <a href="http://www.nuigalway.ie/">National University of Ireland </a>in Maynooth. In between the train station and the college, we saw this really old church, which I thought was really pretty.<br /><br />Once we got to the college, Kirk took me up to the science laboratories, where I got to have lots of fun with him and his friends.<br /><br />With Kirk's help, I used a syringe to put water into test tubes, and used a big microscope to look at really small cells! I had to be really careful, and listen to Alan and Kirk's instructions though, because the equipment was very dangerous, as the signs said.<br /><br />As we finished up in the college, I put my arm around Alan's neck, and he carried me all the way home. What an exhausting day! Thanks Alan and Kirk, for letting me visit you in Ireland, and taking me to see all these fine sites!<br /><br /><div><embed name="FLVPlayer" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" src="http://www.onetruemedia.com/share_view_player?p=" width="408" height="382" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" quality="high" scale="noscale" wmode="transparent" salign="LT" flashvars="&p=7fb2a8714414d23d986198&skin_id=701&host=http://www.onetruemedia.com"></embed> <div style="PADDING-BOTTOM: 15px; MARGIN: 0px; FONT: 12px/20px verdana,arial,sans-serif; WIDTH: 408px; TEXT-ALIGN: center"><a href="http://www.onetruemedia.com/share_player_link?p=7fb2a8714414d23d986198&skin_id=701&source=emplay" target="_blank"><img style="BORDER-RIGHT: 0px; BORDER-TOP: 0px; BORDER-LEFT: 0px; BORDER-BOTTOM: 0px" src="http://www.onetruemedia.com/share_player_link_image/7fb2a8714414d23d986198/701.gif" width="408" /></a><br /><a style="TEXT-DECORATION: none" href="http://www.onetruemedia.com/landing?&utm_source=emplay&utm_medium=txt3" target="_blank">Make video montages at <span style="TEXT-DECORATION: underline">www.OneTrueMedia.com</span></a></div></div>Melanie Holtsmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18146971294514579713noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4675441922396644703.post-22383137129113455972009-01-26T16:43:00.011-05:002009-01-26T20:25:42.821-05:00Atlanta, GA & Gatlinburg, TN<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJk4iL_80hI3H9rTwPmgizO7XHueJKL484q35fhXn4cU5LUrl9b5kETEREa7QiOnfnAr6MjY_Xdb69V34vLfY67JLeAaCS65hKmuSL_ntdwoQ4JSUNVV4UhUzhxDDTOp-wFKIydC6aiok/s1600-h/DSC00541.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJk4iL_80hI3H9rTwPmgizO7XHueJKL484q35fhXn4cU5LUrl9b5kETEREa7QiOnfnAr6MjY_Xdb69V34vLfY67JLeAaCS65hKmuSL_ntdwoQ4JSUNVV4UhUzhxDDTOp-wFKIydC6aiok/s200/DSC00541.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5295774301144127138" /></a><br />This is Chelsey. I was able to go with F. to Gatlinburg and Atlanta over holiday break. The first day at Atlanta we saw F.'s cousin. She was very nice. I saw her whole family that night. We went out to a restaurant that was called Slice. It was very fancy . When we got back we went to sleep. The next day for breakfast I ate hot chocolate and cereal. It was yummy. <br /><br />I went in the woods with F. and G. and her cousins. We saw old cars and bottles and news paper and old houses. It was chilly. After that I met a new friend. His name was Bailey and he was smart too. He let me chew on his bone. Then we had a little nap. Then I played Guitar Hero with F. and everyone. I was rocking. I went to bed. In the morning I had breakfast before we went to Gatlinburg. <br /><br />We got to our hotel and unpacked. Last week I went with Mrs. H. and her family up to Gatlinburg. We had a great time. The first day we arrived after a 9 hour car ride. We were tired when we got to our cabin. <br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFUb-GFWn1G5y3ZpwtujZF9KamHEx6g4R3Pzj_CLtP5aCcTB57e-BE48BfqCFyU4znqgZ_GfoFDTb05bDBt_y0qW7Gl7TQF9pm2Ea_Jc39m75KTy53Nap1BpCG7s5uWG5lhWaXGrQnJpI/s1600-h/IMG_0189.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 134px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFUb-GFWn1G5y3ZpwtujZF9KamHEx6g4R3Pzj_CLtP5aCcTB57e-BE48BfqCFyU4znqgZ_GfoFDTb05bDBt_y0qW7Gl7TQF9pm2Ea_Jc39m75KTy53Nap1BpCG7s5uWG5lhWaXGrQnJpI/s200/IMG_0189.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5288024007871228434" /></a> <br />The next morning we got up and there was frost and ice everywhere. There are only 2 zoos in the country that you can see panda bears so it was fascinating to watch these incredible animals. They were so interesting. They even had authentic Native American food to try in the American Indian Museum. Chet Bear again. I'm back from the holiday weekend. I wanted to have that garage sale but A. called and asked me to ditch the sale for the time being and spend some time with her family. I've never really enjoyed cleaning (just ask mother bear), so I put on my favorite green shirt and hit the road with the P family. As you will see, A. introduced me to a new friend on our trip. He was a little taller than me. In fact, he was taller than me, A., and her brother if we stacked ourselves up like a Totem Poll!<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGMFDOxGYTalZ6qRXWu3q4-RE2vNgVjiQz3BCwf7eyalOgE1HEBGGRiHtdBnvmTA03lRZrKJ21_IANHB7uODYMpdEhYDposOH6PiT-tzWCUxWM28Jx2hqyxHxpCEE2q3lVkdWfB5jdy1w/s1600-h/chettoysoldier.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5275239225779589394" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 150px; height: 200px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGMFDOxGYTalZ6qRXWu3q4-RE2vNgVjiQz3BCwf7eyalOgE1HEBGGRiHtdBnvmTA03lRZrKJ21_IANHB7uODYMpdEhYDposOH6PiT-tzWCUxWM28Jx2hqyxHxpCEE2q3lVkdWfB5jdy1w/s200/chettoysoldier.jpg" border="0" /></a><br />On Thanksgiving Day, I watched the <a href="http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1862565,00.html">Macy's parade</a>, before<br />absolutely stuffing myself on a yummy dinner. One of my favorite floats was one of a big turkey that people were sitting on. For dinner I ate turkey, green beans, turkey, milk, turkey, pumpkin pie, turkey, and of course some honey (Come on! Give me a break! I'm still a bear!).<br /><br />A.'s uncle had a big truck from his glass company and A. thought it would be a good idea for me to drive it around. I drove the BIG truck very well -- they thought about offering me a job but I don't think that would be a good idea because I could barely reach the pedals! The day after Thanksgiving, I joined A.'s family for their traditional drive trough the<br />Christmas light display at <a href="http://www.icrc.net/saludashoals/">Saluda Shoals</a> park and loved it. There were lights in the shape of Santa and Christmas trees, even sporting goods, but my absolute favorite was Santa's canon that was shooting presents and candy. Don't panic! It was just presents and candies made of lights. (Note: No bears were hurt in the shooting of the light cannon.) The next morning, A.'s mom and dad were surprised to find the family's Elf on the Shelf sitting on my lap!<br /><br />The Saturday after Thanksgiving, we braved the mall, and<br />I loved that too. We had hot chocolate at Williams-Sonoma and rode<br />the carousel and kiddie rides. We wanted to get my picture with<br />Santa, but Santa was on break, so we got my picture in Santa's chair<br />instead. First, I had to brush all the crumbs off the chair...that old bowl full of jelly, St. Nick, must have eaten a lot of cookies that morning because there was nearly a whole package of crumbs! :)<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5ve58Y7eLwR85khwJ4TYt8-2C52vJh1vHWG4skzit3HkbCt8VeUdhSBn91_o7qYkSTm52dblkesHmLdGcngfNsJkBjBUMCx7u3_MM38y9pPVBrh8_9tXPsXVgD7sWhfM4jzJ24CvPid8/s1600-h/chetsantachair.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5275238572502568850" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 200px; height: 150px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5ve58Y7eLwR85khwJ4TYt8-2C52vJh1vHWG4skzit3HkbCt8VeUdhSBn91_o7qYkSTm52dblkesHmLdGcngfNsJkBjBUMCx7u3_MM38y9pPVBrh8_9tXPsXVgD7sWhfM4jzJ24CvPid8/s200/chetsantachair.jpg" border="0" /></a><br />Finally, A.'s parents agreed that I could come along with the family and see the Nutcracker. A. and I had to brush our hair (it took me a long time to get all the twigs out) and promise to use our best manners, since we were going to a fancy theater to see the show. I really liked when the Nutcracker came alive. I wanted to tell you about all the fun I had with H. this weekend! First she took me home to see her house. Then we played dress up and she put these cute white PJ’s on me and I tried on some fairy wings. Then she read me a story before bed.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><table><tbody><tr><td><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWBSY2sB_wmQQacwxhgAI91E98vQSd0-xSx9eVxonY3xEh5oAB7NqvveSXbo4-bVs20woXgIEcojf5Tly1hKGIyzs4a6I9Su79Tm5FKDP60sneMTXqdEIyD7VyjWRN1eTLbjqzU7yENZI/s1600-h/Chet+1.JPG"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWBSY2sB_wmQQacwxhgAI91E98vQSd0-xSx9eVxonY3xEh5oAB7NqvveSXbo4-bVs20woXgIEcojf5Tly1hKGIyzs4a6I9Su79Tm5FKDP60sneMTXqdEIyD7VyjWRN1eTLbjqzU7yENZI/s200/Chet+1.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5273370394375299618" /></a></td><td><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-0HDT58sWALZ3vea6UaWgg2VqJb7I_JrnN5cd03esNkqmC2ohJZAKA5keVKG2nMcczgNFCxbDvwTfoTJOz_H5JzV1hbXjuNKPHMsV7NlK7_GURe98bs_u0mXp6XExOFrp5VpXOAG_3RM/s1600-h/Chet+2.JPG"><img style="float:left; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-0HDT58sWALZ3vea6UaWgg2VqJb7I_JrnN5cd03esNkqmC2ohJZAKA5keVKG2nMcczgNFCxbDvwTfoTJOz_H5JzV1hbXjuNKPHMsV7NlK7_GURe98bs_u0mXp6XExOFrp5VpXOAG_3RM/s200/Chet+2.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5273370979302534850" /></a></td></tr></tbody></table><br /><br />Then I got to sleep in her bed with all her stuffed animals. Miss Hoffmann finally uploaded the pictures from<br />our trip to Tennessee and I can't wait to show them to you! It's been a few<br />days since we got back, but I still remember it vividly. Miss Hoffmann and<br />her sisters really wanted to get to Tennessee to see the leaves change.<br />They used to live in Virginia and miss the seasons changing! We all piled<br />into the car really early Friday morning and, after stopping at Starbucks<br />(Miss Hoffmann says it's not a road trip without Starbucks!), <a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjR6g9Gjg3FjXw2Dd7pm0vq7lLdpGmxh6dlfVq1teMQ2EzZdTckiBkNr6dKbPW2TFoycYYzwyIw8lZRD2FYXJxaQeJJ7fWDhZl6l512mgZTf5tx9ITeXgmKiNkeL8OGLK49Mh9kmRT-Fq0/s1600-h/DSCN1960.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5265381415480604514" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjR6g9Gjg3FjXw2Dd7pm0vq7lLdpGmxh6dlfVq1teMQ2EzZdTckiBkNr6dKbPW2TFoycYYzwyIw8lZRD2FYXJxaQeJJ7fWDhZl6l512mgZTf5tx9ITeXgmKiNkeL8OGLK49Mh9kmRT-Fq0/s200/DSCN1960.JPG" border="0" /></a><br />we hit the highways! Miss Hoffmann's lovely singing lulled me into<br />a deep, hibernation-like sleep, and before I knew it, we were at our cabin in Tennessee! It was so rustic and cute...a lot nicer than any cave I've ever lived in! You should have seen Miss Hoffmann and her sisters running around like little schoolgirls...needless to say, they were excited to have finally arrived at their weekend destination. We got there kind of late, so we spent the first night settling in and relaxing. <a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj20XNbtpEfQiK8neaTvtcxKLe5l9HjWCUjltx_J5KqnCuoK6dGSXu2iiBAK1wJYni1jUOkn6PJYK_L0biJl6YcQpGd58JSYCGr5SxUe1-hFLeqSgEsCS_LgmSD6HWACsklmk8Ik-IK8Wo/s1600-h/DSCN1890_2.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5265396195024549554" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 134px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj20XNbtpEfQiK8neaTvtcxKLe5l9HjWCUjltx_J5KqnCuoK6dGSXu2iiBAK1wJYni1jUOkn6PJYK_L0biJl6YcQpGd58JSYCGr5SxUe1-hFLeqSgEsCS_LgmSD6HWACsklmk8Ik-IK8Wo/s200/DSCN1890_2.JPG" border="0" /></a> Her sisters played Foosball, while I looked on and let me tell you, they are very competitive! Don't be fooled by their<br />innocent smiles! There were moments<br />when Miss Hoffmann and I had to<br />intervene before a sisterly feud broke out!<br />Eventually Miss Hoffmann couldn't take<br />it anymore, she was getting a headache<br />from all the shrieking, so we went to bed!<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUAjq3zv4XxZO1Jbc6460tgFptlBVwFKXcvPjFbQYDizPlNgaRSh1xMQLR8_9KK8kEn83UWXcCIqC09o3tNImHeA7u4HPgIUosxgB_BAp3vhbVBZx0-pzeFAZMwgwqu2hkSHLPLViJ3MI/s1600-h/DSCN1835.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5267950136889408290" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUAjq3zv4XxZO1Jbc6460tgFptlBVwFKXcvPjFbQYDizPlNgaRSh1xMQLR8_9KK8kEn83UWXcCIqC09o3tNImHeA7u4HPgIUosxgB_BAp3vhbVBZx0-pzeFAZMwgwqu2hkSHLPLViJ3MI/s200/DSCN1835.JPG" border="0" /></a><br />We woke up just as the sun was rising. I know why they call them the "Smoky" Mountains now...there was this beautiful layer of smoky-like fog covering the mountains in the distance. Our first day was about to begin!<br /><br />Miss Hoffmann's sister really wanted to pet a pig (I'm not sure why, when she had a perfectly adorable bear with her!) so we went on the hunt for a farm. <a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixGgxWfwOlKWWHg-Rxp8NqGdPFWnrEGGcbLvjFWNkBhJ4Drg3M3w0iVxWaL6R2K6WfdsOIRYA_W7aZyZt0wS9b9HBeZJ2F-_mxq2eVRRzuU25mvBQkDyY0kJuC3-acSv4O3CIgSfLEG3g/s1600-h/DSCN1862.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5265376557809330306" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixGgxWfwOlKWWHg-Rxp8NqGdPFWnrEGGcbLvjFWNkBhJ4Drg3M3w0iVxWaL6R2K6WfdsOIRYA_W7aZyZt0wS9b9HBeZJ2F-_mxq2eVRRzuU25mvBQkDyY0kJuC3-acSv4O3CIgSfLEG3g/s200/DSCN1862.JPG" border="0" /></a>It took us a long time, but we finally stumbled upon Deer Farm just outside<br />of Pigeon Forge. There were lots of<br />animals there! That's me in front of<br />a camel. A camel...at a deer farm! It<br />was very hungry so Miss Hoffmann<br />fed it lots of grain. It's nose had little<br />whiskers and it tickled her hands! She<br />fed a lot of other animals too. <a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlj-Wvx0Qh8POVf_TtS_fOABFSjkx4MB1kO7Rjpm0EMeoISNOKNy7J9lkJXilsorxMvgMfNw4YA0jSeljEEeOLbQJEPq77-UOuaUOl2HoNOaNnDRFjKqYaMEMelw15cnpxwvPNEupTTnU/s1600-h/DSCN1875.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5265381974234769986" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 150px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 200px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlj-Wvx0Qh8POVf_TtS_fOABFSjkx4MB1kO7Rjpm0EMeoISNOKNy7J9lkJXilsorxMvgMfNw4YA0jSeljEEeOLbQJEPq77-UOuaUOl2HoNOaNnDRFjKqYaMEMelw15cnpxwvPNEupTTnU/s200/DSCN1875.JPG" border="0" /></a>Miss<br />Hoffmann REALLY loves animals, so she was running around buying all sorts of goodies for the them. She fed a reindeer, zebra, donkey, zonkey (half donkey, half zebra), and goats. I was a little upset...I mean I'm with her all the time and does she run around buying me all sorts of goodies? Nope! <a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8fKpkKVqKPsz_jSBGtZas5_HdYzlBFKei0RtdYWZBZsZ1OTDlFELQkxTn0uOPMgW0JSJpCTE78WSRpQj2FUClYRLfl-JYw5STqqmWXV2oltzpzTDt0EkI-FTr0esZl9pNU46tyVXtWCQ/s1600-h/DSCN1870.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5265382895402634450" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8fKpkKVqKPsz_jSBGtZas5_HdYzlBFKei0RtdYWZBZsZ1OTDlFELQkxTn0uOPMgW0JSJpCTE78WSRpQj2FUClYRLfl-JYw5STqqmWXV2oltzpzTDt0EkI-FTr0esZl9pNU46tyVXtWCQ/s200/DSCN1870.JPG" border="0" /></a>But then I started thinking about how those animals don't have a classroom full of kids who love them and take them on fun trips all over the country, and I wasn't so upset anymore. There's Miss Hoffmann holding a baby goat. It was such a snuggle bug! She just scooped it up and it just curled up in her arms. Personally, I prefer baby bears, but that<br />baby goat was kind of cute. Of course<br />Miss Hoffmann and her sisters couldn't leave without finding a pig!<br />Miss Hoffmann was expecting it to be soft and smooth, but boy was<br />it prickly! At least her sister was satisfied so we could hit the road<br />and head off to another adventure!<br /><br />The girls and I headed off to an ATV center where they decided to go<br />ATVing for the first time! Their mom was not very excited when she<br />heard about their idea, but she came around. When we arrived at the<br />center, the people there got Miss Hoffmann a helmet and goggles that<br />she had to wear on the trip. <a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzHpCJRvc0gYn0mumXEVwqa7dnLQ0JMaXJhlMigMjK6Yhk-a-p1tSOykgWN__x90O7CGPRJUY_hcSU28Jt5Nf6GXPUas48O4jN9zURhRyMq1eDK_iYzvVPeT6DOLdUgNzB8vr6ZuEggLg/s1600-h/DSCN1883.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5265378901304109218" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzHpCJRvc0gYn0mumXEVwqa7dnLQ0JMaXJhlMigMjK6Yhk-a-p1tSOykgWN__x90O7CGPRJUY_hcSU28Jt5Nf6GXPUas48O4jN9zURhRyMq1eDK_iYzvVPeT6DOLdUgNzB8vr6ZuEggLg/s200/DSCN1883.JPG" border="0" /></a>At first Miss Hoffmann felt really confident,<br />but as the ride got closer she got really<br />nervous and was squeezing me so tight<br />I almost choked! The people that worked<br />at the ATV place weren't too confident in<br />Miss Hoffmann's riding abilities either! She<br />had to drive through a test course before<br />the ride could start, but have no fear...she<br />aced it! After that she was a lean, mean,<br />driving machine! They went up huge hills<br />and over gigantic rocks all the way to the top of this mountain where<br />they stopped to take quick pictures, before jumping back on the ATVs<br />and cruising back down!<br /><br />We were so tuckered out after that long day that we headed back to<br />the cabin for some rest. <a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEit2ci7CQEnuO9XAxA0ltt09pRyqctn-qPwi_-DoJUuuNyQ1j7jWozaYTXhTDZLxWY3WRIhwwLK4wA3nkI472FoC3gdF8cTzMRbPUiCfIG6ZvTn1z96ItLWp8s-j92ffPh4WMB1q-oZCFs/s1600-h/DSCN1898.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5265380309241805586" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEit2ci7CQEnuO9XAxA0ltt09pRyqctn-qPwi_-DoJUuuNyQ1j7jWozaYTXhTDZLxWY3WRIhwwLK4wA3nkI472FoC3gdF8cTzMRbPUiCfIG6ZvTn1z96ItLWp8s-j92ffPh4WMB1q-oZCFs/s200/DSCN1898.JPG" border="0" /></a>Miss Hoffmann was so happy because she<br />was able to fall asleep watching Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets on TV. For some reason we all woke up before the sun rose the next morning.<br />We just moseyed about the cabin in the morning before heading off to Smoky Mountain National Park. With three girls, it can take some time to get ready...lucky for me my good pal Winnie the Pooh was on TV. I kicked back on the sofa and tried to tune out the girlie chatter in the background.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjz6ijOZzXsNkittw_LlhSyANs25srvPYEJXhoYrhV61-qQ9l2rvn5z0gyYX2uqEabEvd1KFs_udcPUKyecQIMVpNcUha-dS8MIvAwoF4Zd9_VYb9RPtWxOO6tMe_IC-r3TPdlhkaudV1g/s1600-h/DSCN1901.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5265385136076132098" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjz6ijOZzXsNkittw_LlhSyANs25srvPYEJXhoYrhV61-qQ9l2rvn5z0gyYX2uqEabEvd1KFs_udcPUKyecQIMVpNcUha-dS8MIvAwoF4Zd9_VYb9RPtWxOO6tMe_IC-r3TPdlhkaudV1g/s200/DSCN1901.JPG" border="0" /></a> The Great Smoky Mountains were<br />full of beautiful sights! We drove through<br />winding roads, surrounded by beautiful<br />trees with leaves of green, red, and shades<br />of yellow. We kept jumping out of the<br />car to explore areas of the park. One of<br />Miss Hoffmann's sisters really wanted to<br />play in a pile of leaves so we climbed out<br />in a big field and she buried me in leaves.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizmgmbqJFr_XBzVKpYFtyONODA89GN8VTpuxu8XM1VjBigl8ay055ctHQtCNfkUDH4k_PrMrLAHFoZDiylzM4VqS7RK2brrEbxzWx_OVKPmtbd-d6ysi1X7xYwIdYG28lwCS8o_gKzjs0/s1600-h/DSCN1911.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5265385650833568898" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizmgmbqJFr_XBzVKpYFtyONODA89GN8VTpuxu8XM1VjBigl8ay055ctHQtCNfkUDH4k_PrMrLAHFoZDiylzM4VqS7RK2brrEbxzWx_OVKPmtbd-d6ysi1X7xYwIdYG28lwCS8o_gKzjs0/s200/DSCN1911.JPG" border="0" /></a> Then she picked up a heaping handful of leaves and dirt and threw it right at Miss Hoffmann. Miss Hoffmann was not very happy and got a little grumpy when she couldn't get the dirt out of her shirt. Fortunately, I was there! After a few jokes and a hug, Miss Hoffmann was happy and ready for more fun! As we got deeper into the mountains it got colder and colder! <a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKsHTqRALCIKi3PSxpq9ozNOYv6oo_A4BEFyfikv_ezhldNvaVeQHEwL2V6f7Jt4O5H3qLbnkQtS1Grpm3ZrH7WRJVdGxna0LOIx4vUGoskbI4OyUd1UsAv71ji14igUGfx7yDxiVmtS0/s1600-h/DSCN1853.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5265387074473729762" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKsHTqRALCIKi3PSxpq9ozNOYv6oo_A4BEFyfikv_ezhldNvaVeQHEwL2V6f7Jt4O5H3qLbnkQtS1Grpm3ZrH7WRJVdGxna0LOIx4vUGoskbI4OyUd1UsAv71ji14igUGfx7yDxiVmtS0/s200/DSCN1853.JPG" border="0" /></a> At one point the temperature was in the 30's! We stopped by a beautiful stream and just had to climb out and take a picture. This is one Miss Hoffmann<br />took which I love because you can<br />see the colorful trees behind me! I<br />did not want to leave, but the girls<br />were freezing. Maybe it's my thick,<br />fur coat, but I think they were being<br />a little melodramatic! Before heading back to the cabin for our last<br />night in Tennessee we drove through the Roaring Fork Trail. Right<br />as we started, we saw a black bear! We were so excited! Miss Hoffmann<br />and her sister jumped out of the car to take a picture, but they forgot<br />to hold the door and it slammed shut, scaring the bear away. I was<br />especially disappointed because I was hoping to have a quick chat<br />with him about life in the mountains of Tennessee. <a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHurvjMvO12JPsCV1aahk67hZnQe6CLbl8M6iTMXjgv4Uo9Cds2kcXIdeEjfdo7ODQw4TIit1lUcezxWTWwh9hoD44QLfpSv2wPkc256G-d_uz5x_xGPMcLKaAj3voEg3rJJmRlWELAvU/s1600-h/DSCN1936.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5265390764367428770" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 150px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 200px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHurvjMvO12JPsCV1aahk67hZnQe6CLbl8M6iTMXjgv4Uo9Cds2kcXIdeEjfdo7ODQw4TIit1lUcezxWTWwh9hoD44QLfpSv2wPkc256G-d_uz5x_xGPMcLKaAj3voEg3rJJmRlWELAvU/s200/DSCN1936.JPG" border="0" /></a> We got back in<br />the car and drove on. This part of the mountain was still very green and lush. There was this one stream that flowed for miles along the road and we just had to get out and take pictures of it. I like this one because it comes pretty close to capturing how breathtakingly beautiful it was. If a bear is going to live in the wild, this would not be a bad place to settle down! It was so neat to see some of the old homes that still stand within the mountains. This is a picture of a home that used to belong to a family with nine children! <a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgE56YL6RQ8vvD4gqBSg7o293-n1rNEiXeuFyEj3zpKLFHCPgRk_Zz6Ky3WNibbU8eEJNsePZGyybEtJnsyM3ciA-emb6ZUoHaBfagJXNQtdAGG9VX-i5WSAXbDiGtv5rPN38oMS-DE8fc/s1600-h/DSCN1952.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5265398184119496370" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgE56YL6RQ8vvD4gqBSg7o293-n1rNEiXeuFyEj3zpKLFHCPgRk_Zz6Ky3WNibbU8eEJNsePZGyybEtJnsyM3ciA-emb6ZUoHaBfagJXNQtdAGG9VX-i5WSAXbDiGtv5rPN38oMS-DE8fc/s200/DSCN1952.JPG" border="0" /></a> At first only the part on the left was there, but as time went by, the family was able to add on the second room. Eleven people in one room! No bathroom! It was so crazy! Even in our family cave as cubs, there weren't that many of us! I am very grateful for the<br />creature comforts I enjoy back at home.<br /><br />Well, the next morning we got up early<br />and headed home to Jacksonville! Miss<br />Hoffmann had a wonderful time, but we were both anxious to get back<br />and see everyone from our class! Now that we're back and settled in,<br />I'm awaiting my next trip. I already have a few scheduled! Let Miss<br />Hoffmann and Miss P know if you would like to take me on a new adventure!<br /><br />Your friend,<br />ChetMiss Pattersonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07224866551201493807noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4675441922396644703.post-60171822860209349732008-11-09T23:16:00.008-05:002008-11-10T20:47:07.705-05:00Orlando, FL<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqX8GvaoaSNGZDxadhvpXKRmjTr8LJ-9QvHIoftya6BTfArf-qarGOd7nJK3KGmDFmuXCil9woCQqw73mDOrV-ei9zTX_us0cJvWkYOwNRE32auaIlGWTfscFaBbid30smJPqhbLkLH4E/s1600-h/S7002209.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5266879723995596322" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 150px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 200px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqX8GvaoaSNGZDxadhvpXKRmjTr8LJ-9QvHIoftya6BTfArf-qarGOd7nJK3KGmDFmuXCil9woCQqw73mDOrV-ei9zTX_us0cJvWkYOwNRE32auaIlGWTfscFaBbid30smJPqhbLkLH4E/s200/S7002209.jpg" border="0" /></a><br />Last week Chelsea went with M. to Orlando. K. and his family on our trip to Michigan! I was a little nervous, but C. was my travel buddy and made me feel at home. He always made sure I had my seat belt on! We visited many incredible landmarks while we were there, <a href="http://www.detroitzoo.org/">The Detroit Zoo</a>, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Saint_Clair_(North_America)">Lake St. Clair</a>, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Louis_Arena">Joe Louis Arena</a>, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Navin_Field">Tiger Stadium</a>, and many more!<br /><br />On our way to these amazing travel destinations, we got to take a picture from our car of the <a href="http://www.uniroyal.com/about/gianttire.html">The Uniroyal Giant Tire</a>. This tire is 8 stories tall. The Uniroyal® Giant Tire was originally created as a Ferris wheel attraction at the 1964/1965 New York World's Fair. The wheel held 96 fairgoers and was powered by a 100-horsepower motor. More than two million people rode the Giant Tire Ferris wheel during the fair, including Jacqueline Kennedy and her children, John Jr. and Caroline. We had to hurry if we wanted to take a picture, because you are not allowed to stop your car!<br /><br />We traveled by car to one of the Great Lakes, Lake St. Clair. Out the window, I could spy the change of season, the leaves I saw were yellow, red, and bright orange! It was amazing to see Lake St. Clair. It is a lake that lies between Ontario, Canada, and Michigan in the United States. Even though it is a bit on the small side, it is still considered a Great Lake.<br /><br />What a view! Next, we traveled about town visiting the The Spirit of Detroit (a city monument), The Joe Louis Arena (Home of the Detroit Redwings), and the tallest building in Michigan, The GM Renaissance Center.<br /><br />Last on my list to share from my trip was my favorite stop, the Detroit Zoo!The Detroit Zoo is home to the world's largest polar bear exhibit - Arctic Ring of Life. Visitors can view the polar bears and seals from a 70 foot long underwater tunnel. I love my friends at the Detroit Zoo.<br />I had a wonderful time in Detroit, Michigan and felt right at home with C. 's family. I can't wait until my next adventure!<br /><br /><embed style="WIDTH: 400px; HEIGHT: 320px" name="flashticker" align="middle" src="http://widget-eb.slide.com/widgets/slideticker.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" quality="high" scale="noscale" salign="l" wmode="transparent" flashvars="cy=bb&il=1&channel=216172782132208875&site=widget-eb.slide.com"></embed> <div style="WIDTH: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: left"><a href="http://www.slide.com/pivot?cy=bb&at=un&id=216172782132208875&map=1" target="_blank"><img src="http://widget-eb.slide.com/p1/216172782132208875/bb_t016_v000_s0un_f00/images/xslide1.gif" border="0" /></a> <a href="http://www.slide.com/pivot?cy=bb&at=un&id=216172782132208875&map=2" target="_blank"><img src="http://widget-eb.slide.com/p2/216172782132208875/bb_t016_v000_s0un_f00/images/xslide2.gif" border="0" /></a> <a href="http://www.slide.com/pivot?cy=bb&at=un&id=216172782132208875&map=F" target="_blank"><img src="http://widget-eb.slide.com/p4/216172782132208875/bb_t016_v000_s0un_f00/images/xslide42.gif" border="0" /></a></div>Melanie Holtsmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18146971294514579713noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4675441922396644703.post-19260403741880453552008-10-29T12:27:00.013-04:002008-11-02T19:43:52.736-05:00Las Vegas, NV<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKA8-Ozx6vV1PqhZJGhkdQ-RIU85MxVbW3WOqJc1uugiF-Y30LXZNZ4Pcm0Nhll-IFCuJxio4L0hYzcKoAXZhVkhUGGJrgX3NixC1MidNJCgyvS0CG8Y4zgunVmLbmFxdwL4r3HHIcPIXq/s1600-h/IMG_0002.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5264225249834496706" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 319px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKA8-Ozx6vV1PqhZJGhkdQ-RIU85MxVbW3WOqJc1uugiF-Y30LXZNZ4Pcm0Nhll-IFCuJxio4L0hYzcKoAXZhVkhUGGJrgX3NixC1MidNJCgyvS0CG8Y4zgunVmLbmFxdwL4r3HHIcPIXq/s320/IMG_0002.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkKoL16om8WzpqPJRcBcJUxx0ClFAiySyGNbjRU2Ai6UIXnUJvxP2gd6pJJ4yNwJGE96EZ-DZsscDe_LeSDIHhVZgC4JiPlRrqJTyh0bq1jRUlyOh9YvRYUNX6PZX_98Xwle-UGsdEbf8U/s1600-h/Paris_Home_380x214.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5262619203697315522" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 142px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkKoL16om8WzpqPJRcBcJUxx0ClFAiySyGNbjRU2Ai6UIXnUJvxP2gd6pJJ4yNwJGE96EZ-DZsscDe_LeSDIHhVZgC4JiPlRrqJTyh0bq1jRUlyOh9YvRYUNX6PZX_98Xwle-UGsdEbf8U/s200/Paris_Home_380x214.jpg" border="0" /></a> I went to Las Vegas with J. and his family. Lauderdale, FLWhat an adventure! I, Chelsea, traveled with R. and her Nana on an airplane to a tropical paradise. The trip started off with a lot of excitement, because one of the engines on the airplane would not start! I got a little nervous, but quickly was at ease as R. held me close assuring everything would be just fine. <br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2IogJtO9m5AC3YSGUGcOIf3ZIjGqRtmGt8yCVT4KcxVshh92NPx4wJx0NwFDIwdyLe7AkHPV3yizNfBUtef_heNZKu1fiC1wvG3S4z750eqNS29mSIdiNQcdZyz8S9eM75oKn31PFLr0/s1600-h/At+the+airport.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 135px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2IogJtO9m5AC3YSGUGcOIf3ZIjGqRtmGt8yCVT4KcxVshh92NPx4wJx0NwFDIwdyLe7AkHPV3yizNfBUtef_heNZKu1fiC1wvG3S4z750eqNS29mSIdiNQcdZyz8S9eM75oKn31PFLr0/s200/At+the+airport.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5262030877598414306" /></a><br /><br />We were on our way to visit R.’s Aunt and Uncle who live in South Florida to celebrate R.’s birthday. When we arrived we were a bit tired because the flight got in quite late, so we went to bed. The next morning I woke up and found myself in a beautiful home near the beach with breathtaking views of downtown Ft. Lauderdale. It’s was so exciting to explore a new home, with three levels! The patios on the third level were my personal favorite. R. liked the lower level gardens with fountains. <br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhn14On4-o3lerVwlkvV9HeOI6bUzqFh-bvoWHJZeOLrqJDaADuwjJShHBfDel18vKHzMAqVdyQwXcOoiX3dVRsoqtIuOORFcy7NdfmcLfoOFBYPWySj8TqFvH__cjDIJp-Ec7Bqkwt-Pw/s1600-h/Nana,+Auntie+and+Uncle.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 135px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhn14On4-o3lerVwlkvV9HeOI6bUzqFh-bvoWHJZeOLrqJDaADuwjJShHBfDel18vKHzMAqVdyQwXcOoiX3dVRsoqtIuOORFcy7NdfmcLfoOFBYPWySj8TqFvH__cjDIJp-Ec7Bqkwt-Pw/s200/Nana,+Auntie+and+Uncle.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5262032647306078754" /></a><br /><br />We went to the Ft. Lauderdale Museum of Discovery and Science which was a blast. There are so many educational activities, actually over 200 interactive exhibits, including sharks, alligators and a simulated rocket adventure. <br /><br />We also took a trip to the Ft. Lauderdale Beach. The white sands of South Florida are about as close to the Caribbean as you can get. The water was warm, although I never fully got in. I did not want to mess up my hair! I enjoyed soaking up the sun’s rays with R.<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1ihLqLt6tO01uCDg2VcrsCdYP8_crnNFEkOOgrgmwkF6kQQw7CA9VgJHDRsfMVISInOM5t_s3oVJDjnt4R5FcVcaLr085-YUlmUuricrxdlv53OAZX2IDfRD4hmW-VAJqw7J7NeQ6Uas/s1600-h/The+beach.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 135px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1ihLqLt6tO01uCDg2VcrsCdYP8_crnNFEkOOgrgmwkF6kQQw7CA9VgJHDRsfMVISInOM5t_s3oVJDjnt4R5FcVcaLr085-YUlmUuricrxdlv53OAZX2IDfRD4hmW-VAJqw7J7NeQ6Uas/s200/The+beach.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5262033537578869346" /></a><br /><br />A trip to a beautiful garden center and nursery was also a lot of fun. There were so many different tropical plants with various bright colors to choose from. They also had all sorts of fountains and garden furniture. R. got a beautiful necklace.<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnk0uqbHlyXd8lhNQSH320QC__6Zti4-NKdY6KbSfrd_eLX_BdhRVEaHWG6-vaSG0eBTD-jmAgcFrJ_gTeZnFpS_WyIPlqEBjxDJ7Ej8veackyi8IdU6gMb0YIJ9Bc-0fA9S1YUxohaqw/s1600-h/Riverwalk+Shopping.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 135px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnk0uqbHlyXd8lhNQSH320QC__6Zti4-NKdY6KbSfrd_eLX_BdhRVEaHWG6-vaSG0eBTD-jmAgcFrJ_gTeZnFpS_WyIPlqEBjxDJ7Ej8veackyi8IdU6gMb0YIJ9Bc-0fA9S1YUxohaqw/s200/Riverwalk+Shopping.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5262033151587212434" /></a><br /><br />The most exciting part was celebrating R.’s birthday. She got all sorts of nice gifts and Uncle bought her a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Similar to the ones we’d seen at the garden center. It was a wonderful time traveling with R. and I so enjoyed getting to spend time with her and her lovely family.<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyx8U1Z4d-0UGcNYEew5OUB5Vnuwq3sugWE7mFtwyHmKKP6lKwudVf5pxYne2sjgPY4Ias-DIYHPiS_QyfK9YzL_IpjTGVsDjOXgeuuspfVkI89YrHxp1QaUITHjkKwP71DsDqX8BP9tA/s1600-h/Birthday.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 135px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyx8U1Z4d-0UGcNYEew5OUB5Vnuwq3sugWE7mFtwyHmKKP6lKwudVf5pxYne2sjgPY4Ias-DIYHPiS_QyfK9YzL_IpjTGVsDjOXgeuuspfVkI89YrHxp1QaUITHjkKwP71DsDqX8BP9tA/s200/Birthday.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5262031162635886690" /></a><br /><br />Until my next adventure,<br />ChelseaDebbie Harbourhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01628840289191959949noreply@blogger.com1
